Merchant Road-Support Mage v.2

I haven't been happy with the Support Mage for some time, and tonight I was caught in a moment when I wanted to draw but didn't want to hunt for my sketchbook. Instead, I opened up this pic and thought about what I'd originally envisioned when I drew him.

As I mentioned on the original version, this pic is kind of a crossroads for me. At the time when I drew it, it was one of my best pics. Now, I see too many errors for me to feel the same way I did back then, but I have always liked the concept behind it.

I replaced the too-cold, too-wet background of waves with a heavy sunset, then added the spell I always wanted to show in his hand. As a support mage, he's not wielding the kinds of energies his more robust counterpart (the Artillery Mage, seen here: [link]) uses. Instead, he performs time magic, some healing, morale spells, and the like. The nature of his magic is more gentle, less fierce.

He'll be offered as a print soon; now that I'm happier with the changes, I think I'm back to enjoying this image as much as I did last year when I drew him.
