Aeris Yarn

Description

This yarn came from what I consider to be the ugliest single I've ever spun. It was all muddy, the colors blended together in weird combinations, and fully half of the fiber was this unrelenting PINK.

Then I plied it on itself--which involves, basically, folding the entire length of the single in half--and suddenly the muddy colors came to life, twining around the pink section that became a unifying feature. The fiber itself is very, very soft and smooth, and the resulting beautiful yarn made the tedium of spinning the single completely worthwhile.

I sold this three days later at ConnectiCon 2007. There were 200+ yards of a light worsted weight, and I named it Aeris after the Final Fantasy VII character. The colors reminded me of flowers, the pink made me think of her signature dress color, and there is a very subtle pale intense green that shows up from time to time, much like the Lifestream from the game.

Subsequent attempts to recreate this yarn have failed so far. I am still working on it.

This yarn strikes me as very kaffe fassetish... ouch! inventing this then losing the formula... very un-professional... and heartbreaking ... you have my sympathy; P.

btw: Notice how I've only made a vague comparison and deliberately avoided using adjectives to describe what I think of this yarn... would be kinda like rubbing salt in....
